Another very cold place in the Philippines is Marawi City. Totoo, talagang malamig sa lugar na ito.

Sorry for butting in but was wondering with all the cold wonderful places in the Phils, why'd they chose Manila to be the country's capital? Wouldn't it be nice to live in a capital where you can experience really cold weather and also warm weather during the year? At least theres a reason to get out those winter clothes and wear them hehehehe. Kakasawa kasi yung tropical clothes eh

I don't know if weather is one factor contributing to the choice of capital

i hope you're just saying it as a joke. try imagine being in winter clothes for 4-6 months in a year (roughly around 6-10 lbs depending on the the extremity) and probably in just 1 winter you'd be cursing.

if you are referring baguio then you'd be in early fall or spring like temperatures so it's just light jackets or sweaters.

same with sinjin, temperatures doesn't have to be a criteria in choosing a captial.

Valencia Town here in Negros (few kms upbound dumaguete) It is dubbed as the Summer Capital here in central visayas since it is situated way up Mt. Talinis. They even have a huge strawberry plantation. They have fogs even during the day in cold months.

Cebu's Summer Capital (Mantalongon Town, Dalaguete, Cebu)

Osmena Peak

While Mantalongon has been known as the vegetable kingdom of Cebu, quite a few realizes that its actually a magnificent haven for both local and foreign trekking afecionados in the country. Here mountaineers pass through a natural showcase of highly-varied landscape. Osmeña Peak is the highest peak among the Mantalongon range. Behind it, the mountain ranges stretch as far as Badian to the Southwest. One can trek across the mountain ranges to get to Badian, practically cutting across the island of Cebu westward.

sometimes, temperature here could reach 9 degrees centigrade

For habitable environments, where people actually live and work and not just a hut in the middle of nowhere, the Pagasa records have it as baguio then malaybalay both have records lower than 10 degrees centigrade.

For a specific place, MT. Apo has been known to go below freezing regularly, am not sure if Mt. Pulag which is furhter north and just ever slightly lower than mt apo is measured, it should make sense that it's colder since there is a distinct cold season in that latitude as opposed to davao's perpetual spring, of course this can only be verified scientifically, i don't know if anyone has done it yet though. Probably more important things to measure, like sea levels for global warming!

Manila was chosen because of it's deep natural harbor that made it an important port on the lucrative trade routes between the East and the West.

It's quite warm in Kalinga. It's not as high as the mountains of Benguet and MP.

5C = 41F
10C = 50F
15C = 59F

20F = -7C

I'm not sure about snow (flurries), but I know that it has hailed (ice) in the Philippines before.

oh i see... well, florida has a quite similar climate with the phillipines.. it hails there ever so often... sometimes it can get really cold there too, but i dont think it has snowed there... at least on record on the past century.

How bout Baguio? how cold can it get there?

^Normal temperature is from 16-25. If the weather is extremely rainy/stormy, it can range from 15-20(or less). From December to early March, it can range from 8-23

All are in degrees celsius
