The Freedom Tower had so many more economic, political, and practical infrastructural issues that I'm surprised it's even started by now.

Different kinds of foundation. the Chicago Spire is build on piles which can be placed quickly. The Fredom tower is build directly on top of heavy rock (blueschist I thought). In order to do that they needed to dril holes in the rock first, but because it are quit hard rocks the drilling times took very long. Without the rockdrilling the foundations of the FT would have taken the same amount of time (6 month).

The base looks like some freaky 60's inspired mushroom now. Gross. It had better not end up with that shit brown "gold" color and those weird ceilings.
