There should be room to tie up a few on the north side of the site (I think that it's called the 'Ogden Slip') and there already are a few other boats moored in there.

I doubt that anybody living there that works downtown would drive. Only reverse-commuters and recreational drivers would be factors.

im sorry but i still just fail to see anything beautiful about this structure.. i mean it is definitely a feat of engineering and no doubt complex, but it just doesnt do anything for me, and the current design just kind of mars the skyline. i think a lot so prominent in the chicago skyline should have something much more inspiring.

does nobody else feel the same way?!

Would I rather the new supertalls all be gothic? Sure. But Chicago Spire isn't bad at all.

well i dont at all mind modern looking buildings. and i dont think this one would be so bad anywhere else in the city. but for the prominent place in the city's skyline?? this is not the right tower for that spot.

I tend to agree. It is in the most prominent spot in the skyline, but Trump will be also. I really think once the other supertalls around it are done (Waterview, Trump) it will fit in nicely. I also think none of the renderings are really doing it justice. I think its gonna be an amazing sight to behold once it is finished.

It won't spoil the skyline if you're looking from the Planetarium -- the Spire will be far off to the right. I think it will only appear overbearing when viewed from a boat on the lake.

I actually couldn't imagine another spot in the city that would work for the Spire. It's so slender that I think it's best right where it is, and any other spot would take away for the building as a whole.

Yes, but it is not oficially under construction until the first caisson is drilled. Right now they are working on plugging some underground tunnels to reduce the risk of flooding.
