Wouldnt it be something if this tower was completed before the Freedom Tower.

From the Swisshotel, I think River View 1 blocks the north half of the site, which is where the actual building is going up. We need someone in the Chandler or the Regatta to start taking snapshots.

This is my first post and it will be about the Chicago Spire

I live in Chicagoland.
I love both classic and modern architechture.
I love living in a thriving, dynamic city.
I am excited to witness one of the monumental projects in the U.S.

Add all these up, I am so excited about Chicago Spire project that is has commenced and in the city where I live.

I will be devoted follower of this forum.

Thanks to all contributors.

Except it is not under construction. They are not building any part of the tower right now. All they are doing is filling in some old tunnels below the site. How many times does it need to be said.

Meh, except for that 1888-foot proposal, there's really nothing jawdropping in Vegas' skyline. (Not downplaying the city of course, just that it is a very very far comparison to NY and Chicago.)

but vegas has that artificial kinda feel that I just can't shake off... all giant hotel buildings with over the top themes :-( CityCenter is an exception tho. I hope all the new ones would be like it.

I love the idea of this building, but Im not too fond of the building itself. It is, however, going to be a masterpeice of sorts when constructed and I am happy to see some ground work.

Why is the water in Chicago so blue! It's the same colour you would see in tropical Singapore!

It's the color of the Chicago River, which, due to a set of locks just east of lake Shore Drive, is completely separate from the water of Lake Michigan (which has a much darker, deeper blue color to it). Many years ago the river was 'reversed' and everything from that lock inland now flows southwestward into the Mississippi River.

It was a big engineering feat in its time.
