Damn i love this building.

Shame that there won't be an observation deck. Mind you if i was paying to live in that building i wouldn't want tourists in my way all the time.

If Im remembering correctly, the Chicago World Trade Center project at 2,500ft received preliminary approval before the market crashed in the 80's. Im gonna double check.

Wikipedia:

"The Chicago World Trade Center was a proposed 2500 feet supertall skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois. It would have had 210 floors and it was also to look like the actual World Trade Center that was destroyed on September 11, 2001, when Flight 11 and Flight 175 crashed into both buildings. The building was designed in 1982 by Harry Weese. However, the design was never built.

A shorter, 181 floor, 2300 foot building by the same name was proposed that same year, but like the other proposal, it was also cancelled."

this is amazing to me. I cant see how this can stay this way. its the highest point in the country!! and only 1 person will have access to it?? seems crazy.

a smart business man will buy the top floor and charge $15 bucks to come up.

Hi guys!!

I´ve read this about CS in Emporis:

Quote:
- This building will have the longest elevator run in the world.
I thought that Burj Dubai was going to have the longest elevator run in the world, just because it will be taller than CS.

Maybe the reason is here (taken from the Emporis´ Burj Dubai article):

Quote:
- The top of the building will contain a public observation deck and a private club above that.

- An observation deck will occupy the 124th floor.

So, there will be a longer elevator run in CS than the one to the 124th floor of Burj Dubai.

What can you say about that? Correct me if I´m wrong.

Why both buildings never get built?
