Another article about the spire including the mention of a tuned mass damper.

Hey, A TMD!

Thanks for the article Chi649. I thought that the twisting design was supposed to make it so that the Chicago Spire doesn't need a TMD, similar to the fact that the Burj Dubai doesn't have one because of its spiraling design. But I think it's better to have a Tuned Mass Damper than not!
Also, I like how the article went into some detail about the internal structure with the mega columns.
However I didn't like the negativity that the article expressed (maybe the developer has his doubts?) The idea that the caissons could be used for a smaller building doesn't settle well with me.

The developer didn't write that. The author of the article has doubts but certainly not the developer. Everything Kelleher has said and done shows nothing but confidence.

Great

Well that's good! To build a monster structure like this, it doesn't hurt to have confidence. And I'm glad to see that Kelleher has confidence in abundance.

You also can look down on the SEARS ANTENNAS!!!!!

This tower will be stupendously amazing when it is completed! If you contemplate for a while, it really does resemble smoke rising from a Native American encampment 1000 years ago!

Dwalden, take a look at the CS video on that page. The reporter said that they're digging 14 caissons for seven supercolumns. Also, I took a look at the site, and although some of the renders show the five sided version, the logo shows seven sides.

I suppose we'll find out soon enough which is true.

5 or 7?

Doesn't the plan of the grounds around the Spire show the 7 sided version? Why is this even an issue?

Because no one knows if those plans predate the 5 sided renders.

Yes. We do know. Shelbourne Development responded to a SSP forumers E-mail asking about it. This was about 2 weeks ago. I would quote the response but I don't really want to spend 2 hours going through the 5,000 reply topic on SSP.
It said the glass will be clear, and it has 7 sides.

Well of course the glass will be clear!! The TINT is what we're looking for. I think someone at Shelbourne honestly didn't know so they just said something that couldn't be wrong!
