I use IE here at work, but not the newest version. (I cant update it either). I do use firefox at home but do have the newest version of IE, so I hope it will work. I hear the video is narrated by Bill Kurtis, right there I know it is awesome. Cant wait to get home and watch it.

and does anybody know how I can embed the video on my myspace page, or better yet, here?

Thanks, hydro for this great article. This is a wonderful project that will make many of us proud . Chicago does make a bold statement to the world with the Spire.

The video is awesome. I also like the style of the building... view is mindblowing. But i still think the spire doesnt fit do the skyline... cant help me... just looks displaced.
And the location itself... mhhh why was it fitted in this gap. And not build on that green thing at the other side of the highway?

Another question: how will it be with the parking? Those rich people who get an apartment there... i guess they'll have more then 1 car. where to park them? underground parking space?
Also guess the spire will create alot of traffic in that small street. Strange strange imo... maybe somebody could give me an explanation.
Sorry if already asked, but i didnt watch this thread the whole time and just have no time to read all hundret pages.

thx

This has been answered 94356345345 times in this thread. There is a Chicago city ordinance that prohibits any buildings East of Lakeshore Dr.

How is this different from any other urban apartment building? People who want a 5 car garage don't live on the 150th floor in a major city, they live out in the suburbs.

The pricetag is different. If i get an apartment for that prize i would not accept to abandon my rolls royce. And... i dont know... but the other buildings that are far NOT that big like the spire might have the needed space in a underground parkinglot as for the spire i cant believe that will be possible without going down halfway to the earth's core

But u didnt answer the question... will there be a underground parking. Maybe not for all people in the building but at least a few who are willing to pay some extra price.

And i stll cant believe that most of the people who will live in that building wont have a car to park because they live in a "urban apartment building"

if people wanted there are a few parking garages in the area to store their cars. But in central Chicago, cars are simply not relied upon all that much. Parking is not a major factor for downtown condo buyers.

Yeah... you're right. U need no car at all. Even in my small city (~100k people) most people don't have one because u can reach everything by metro/bus.

BUT!!! I dont think that a buyer of a 40 Million Penthousesuite ever will go by public transportation... never ever. Cant believe that. I only could imagine that they have some kind of valet parking or a chauffeur who picks them when they need a drive.
I know of some rich people with "supercars"... they are rich, but not that rich that they could buy a penthouse there. But even these have their merc cabriolet driven by truck to their hotel but they travel with some kind of limousine.
These are people who dont really care for any costs. To really afford such a place like the spire... not just pay off on it... but really afford it, i dont think that this is NOT a factor (the parking isue).
PPL who can get whatever they want, want a car for sure. It's prestige... a symbol, in all cultures allover the world.
Thats why i kept asking. But for now my questions are answered...
