It's hard to believe it's under construction. Honestly I think the building looks ugly in the renders but I have a good feeling that the real building will turn out looking fantastic.

That's the idea, if you hit the slideshow option on Picassa it works fairly well, you may need to let it cycle trough once so everything is cached locally.

If anybody has more time ( fewer children ) and can put them into a movie that would be great.

A few of the slideshows I have worked on ...

There are more at http://picasaweb.google.com/harry.r.carmichael - none of them are real polished.

cause i do think..that its expected to be built up :P

great work on the pics! love seeing the daily updates, and as i have said before, I find this to be MUCH more exciting that the Burj, I love the design, and makes me want to check out Chicago sometime soon! and I'm not that far away, just outside of Toronto.

Byt the time the tower rises above my perch it will be in that dull repetitive floor after floor mode, I will continue to document, just from a bit further away. I am also getting better at AutoStitch ( e.g. http://picasaweb.google.com/harry.r....SlideShow_Core ).

This is one aspect I am working to perfect, the balance between the frame filling shots and constant re-adjustment of the size as the projects grow. 300N LaSalle is posing that problem now as I have gone from zooming in to shooting in portrait mode ( sideways ).

Actually, it was the "pristine" part that I found humorous. Oddly enough, now I can't find that quote on the website anymore. Must be the beer. But the Documentary is cool!

I wonder how long it will take until we will see some kind of circle on the ground. It should be a matter of weeks, maybe only days, until the caissons form a circle. Then it will finally "feel" like under construction.

The all time record for the John Hancock Center was set recently at a paltry $2.5 million, thats $2 1/2 million and NOT $25 million for a four bedroom on the 92nd floor with only about 2,500 square feet if I recall which is also the largest size of units in the building.

$40 million for a penthouse in the spire? 16 letters of reccomendation to live at 209 East Lake Shore Drive? I look down on that building every day, literally.

I live in the Hancock on the 48th floor (formerly the 91st) and places like the Spire make this place look like a trailer park. Thats one thing thats awesome about Chicago though, in general its pretty laid back in terms of what places expect from you when you want to live there and its cheap compared to other cities. Buildings like the Spire, Trump and others provide a super rich niche for the city but it will keep places like the Hancock and Marina City affordable.

Should be seven pairs of main cassions, as far as I can see from harryc's images only four single ones have been set.
