is it too big for the skyline to handle?

I don't foresee tower ruining Chicago's skyline. I feel that It could only make it better. Chicago is about to, once again, make a statement to the US about what a skyscraper can be. It could also set precident to what a skyline is in the 21st century. The only other tower in the US that could make this same statement is Louisville's Museum Plaza. I applaud Chicago for taking this risk, and only wish that cities like Boston, would do the same. (RE:"Tommy's Tower," 1000ft)

great pics for a great tower. If by "ruining" people mean "changing", then it can only be a good thing. Skylines evolve, (or at least should) and these kind of projects can only benefit this change.

My thoughts exactly. the skyline was already great before the Spire... so how could a 600 meter building 'ruin' it? I think chicago knows what they're doing when it comes to skyscrapers.

Not everyone received that invitation. I received one with a Chicago phone number.

im pretty sure i posted about the savills thing or did i? anyway i was at a savills briefing last week (nice posh hotel in london, breakfast beforehand) and this came up, savills were very chuffed to have secured the sales deal. given the position has these days for *international* finance its not really surprising. im sure savills also offered a big honking financial inducement that other agents (or realtors if you're american) didn't.

What I think is cool about Chicago, knowing that it is the birth of the skyscraper,is that it has the periods of architectural style for all to see. The Home insurance building for the very early years among many others, the Wrigley and Tribune Towers for the Art deco type periods, the modern box types for the early 70s periods,SEARS,HANCOCK, AMOCO,. And now for the 21st Century we have the stylish twisted CS. COOL. In a perfect world though, would have loved the see the Mile High Illinois.

Well, some us Yanks make it point to take tea with a queen every so often.

Would it be possible for someone maybe to link up these images to a map, like google, to pinpoint where they are taken from.

I don't get the project, in terms of the work done on the highway, would be interesting to see how it works.

You can do it with Google Maps, and even add pictures into your own customizable map.

thanks for the pics once again though!

Map is on Left margin, 1/2 way down. The road work ( not a highway on lower level ) is to provide access by more than the current single road ( middle right of the overviews ).

I still can't believe that this project is being built.

I thought the nimby's would have for sure crushed it.

Once it is complete, I will visit Chicago!
