Wow now you can see why people say NIMBY - the trees (all along the right hand side) have been ripped out of their backyards and now its used to store stuff ... lots of progress!

The trees - and fence were cut out.
Looks like they are cleaning up the Utility connections.

Nothing is being stored on the adjacent property.

This guy - now homeless. ( taken Aug 1st SW corner).

Fantastic photos! I'm still in disbelief that the Spire is actually under construction

That is the drill shaft, 100+ feet long, the red thing on top is where the air hose connects, at the end is a fitting for the pnematic powered grinders, and to circulate the water and debris for both the powered and unpowered grindres.

Bottom

Top

Detail of bracket for (one of) the wires that raises the basket off of the top of the bit ( the gravel from grinding collects on top of the bit )

Detail of the joint between the staionary hose coupling and the spinning shaft ( air tight )

Just how wide will this tower be? Seems like an awfully small spot to put a 2,000-ft residential tower!

Walls for the slit trench or slurry wall ( not sure of the terminology )

Slit digger ( same one as on Block 37 ? )

Not really sure how these are used or what they are called

I think this may be my favorite of all the new super talls going up today. I really look forward to seeing how the detail shows up when the tower is completed. This is so much better than the proposed residential tower the architect designed for lower Manhattan.
