Hi guys, I've got one question

why to they need these round something? Somebody wrote "They still have to finish pounding in the steel sheeting flush with the ground, then they will begin to excavate within it for the core."
Couldn't they just dig o normal deep hole? Does it have to be so round? Why? And how deep will be the core? And what with the parking? Will it be under the whole area of the square? Thx for answer

You can't just dig a hole and not have these massive steel piles in the ground. The trajic result would be the soil caving in around the construction workers and equipment. Not to mention that this building has water around 3 sides of it not only does it keep soil from collapsing in it also keeps Lake Michigan out.. The steel Each steel pile is being pounded in at a different rate. Eventually they will all be pounded in at an even depth.

Successful business men didn't become successful by spending millions of dollars on a lark. Past success is no sure-fire predictor of future success, particularly where the success depends upon participation from high-end investors, but given Kelleher's past successes and present expenditures, I suspect that something significant is going on behind the scenes.

Recognition

I don't know if anyone has told you yet, but Popular Science magazine has named its Best Of What's New awards, and the Chicago Spire was recognized as the Grand Award Winner for Engineering. Do with this information whatever you like.
Looks like the guys at PS are beginning to take notice of this little operation!

These neighbors are not carved by the hands of nature, but by the hands of men. These neighbors are buildings that scrape the sky." -1930's quote, author unknown.
