(Thanks to BVictor1). So, if this plan is accurate, the core diameter is about 90' and the coffer dam ~120'.

The garage will be withing the black dashed lines above, the wall ( 70' + deep ) is being constructed now, secants N along the slip, slurry wall on the E an S sides. CASE has said they will use top down construction for part of this, we only have speculation on which part will be top down, and which will be conventional. - for more detail than any sane person wants go back 2 months in this forum and review - just the diagrams should do it.

This is simply the Slurry wall for the Core. Notice that the site and all of DT is at the same level as the water. Once you dig or drill it will start to fill with mud and water and this is simply a way to control the water and also protect the workers from the sides caveing in.

Looks like living in the building will be pretty expensive...

from the website:
We have begun scheduling private appointments at our sales center in Chicago for mid-January of 2008. An international sales exhibition will commence in late January with visits to Dublin and following in New York, London, Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Moscow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Seoul.

The Chicago Spire Sales Center occupies the entire 18th floor of NBC Tower, overlooking the site. The sales center experience includes full-scale recreations of apartment interiors and a comprehensive gallery of Santiago Calatrava’s work and inspiration. Please allow at least 45 minutes for your private presentation.

The starting price of our homes has just been made available. Each of our 1193 units is unique with the specific pricing valued on size, view and floor. The below pricing structure provides some insight as to the unit style breakdown.

Suites from $750,000

1 bedrooms from $1.35 million

2 bedrooms from $1.65 million

3 bedrooms from $4.3 million

4 bedrooms from $5.8 million

Penthouse homes priced upon request

Busy site!

Both of the new Gatwood cranes on site seem to be this Liebherr 90 ton model with the single hydraulic piston arm. Is the smaller one lifting the counter weights for the large one?

2 sets, 3 spans total ( fist truck has spans with bend at one end, other one has spans w no bend ) .

Ready for the next layer (?)

Big steel form, with slits, inplace and full of concrete, the blankets were still on so no indication yet what the slits were for.

Not all ramps get used.

They're making fast progress on the ramps, are they going to use them for the heavy construction traffic for the tower?

So does the city pay for those new ramps, or does the builder pay for em. Cause im a little lost on this. Are they jus adding access to the highway for the building or making actual changes to the highway?

Great updates as always, harryc. I appreciate the time spent on the detail of the work on the ramps and the prep work, it's very informative for someone like myself (not at all involved in building/architectural work).

They can't. Trucks are banned from LSD.
