I'd put these over BD, with all the "when the steel?" speculation in the BD thread.

awesome updates.

I love how I'll be following this building's construction from the start.

I found out only about the BD back less than a year ago. It was already 40-50 storeys tall then.

and this building excites me far more. I wanna visit chicago.

I haven't been watching this thread lately.

Does anyone know how many storeys the basement will be?

It's great to see so much activity on site now.

I would say that in 12 months we will be looking at a core rise from the ground.

Neighbors hit Spire with lawsuit
By Thomas A. Corfman

The developer of the Spire misrepresented the scope of the project during negotiations to obtain a now-contested agreement to build under land adjacent to a condominium complex, according to a fraud complaint filed Wednesday by the River View Condominium Assn. in Cook County Circuit Court.

If someone knows more, please correct me, but I don't see any reason to be overly concerned with this lawsuit. At worst it would mean they would need to add more underground floors but it would not stop the project.

In a previous news report about this issue, Shelbourne Development said that they could rather easily just change the plans to work around this small plot of land that the lawsuit is over.

You guys are over reacting. This is not new news...they've been talking about this pissing match between the developer and the neighbors for several weeks. Murphy already said that if push comes to shove he can make some changes to the design of the car park so that the easement is not required.

With a huge project like this there will be many lawsuits along the way and maybe even after it is complete (think MIT vs. Gehry) - so Calatrava and that Irish guy need to make sure they do things legally and properly. Good news for lawyers, though - a whole tower of potential litigation.
