There was an commercial in the most recent edition of Wallpaper* for the Chicago Spire trying to sell apartments.

It was a really awesome ad, they didn't show any pictures of the buildings, but used pieces of nature to demonstrate it's 'curving'. Plus they mentioned Calatrava's name about 400 times.

Merry Christmas, Chicago Spire.

I think the base is quite a bit wider than 120ft, that would be a ratio height to width of 16.666666. I conjecture that the width is nearer 200ft than 120ft.

Off the top of my head I remember it being 209ft. I've also seen recently where the height to base ratio was reportedly 9.6/1. If the base is 209ft then that would give it a ratio of ~ 9.56 which I could easily see being rounded to 9.6 in news reports. I'm sure it's somewhere in this thread or over at SSP.

Edit:
UberAlles of SSC and SSP has created a good website that has info on the spire. He has it listed as 216ft. Go to his website and then click on "Basic Information" to see the base width. It also has a diagram. Here is a link to the site: http://www.boca-del-mar.com/FAQ/

It looks like the area is on a barge or something, or is it just a narrow strip of land with metal incasing it?
