That's an awesome picture/render and I don't mean to take anything away from you (that takes way more skill than I have) there's still quite a few that aren't added there besides what you mentioned.

OMP (and the other three buildings in that cluster, or at least the one U/C, or at least that and the one we have a render for), Legacy, 300 N. LaSalle, Legacy, the one on Millenium Park next to Smurfitt-Stone, maybe even 300 Riverside. It's a testament to what's going on in Chicago that you could do all that great work and still only hit the big ones being built. Just incredible.

Actually it had more to do with when they were built, financing etc. downtown Chicago is relatively open to zoning law changes or exemptions to law for major construction projects. If I remember correctly those two story buildings are about 20-25 years old so they would have been built when the economy was very slow.

I would have loved to add Everything but....

My process so far has been to build a detailed sketchup model (which takes considerable time depending on how accurate and how much detail you want to include. I just don't have time right now to create models of the "insignificant" "short" buildings in the boom. Funny that these "insignificant, short buildings" are all to be taller than the tallest building we have here in Kansas City - pretty awesome when you think about it from that perspective.

those townhouses were completed in 1995-97 and started selling for $450,000! They are now worth at least DOUBLE that amount...

the townhouses will be going nowhere. Probably the only cluster of townhouses so close to the center of the city. They are already under a constant shadow from the highrises to the south - which was the later phase of this development... great location though

Nice video! Good work!

BTW - I realy like this tower, also cause it's a new supertall for Chicago/America, and also because it's just next to some rowhouses

It wasn't until I was increasing the height of bcbs that I realized 340 on the park was missing - too late - sorry.
Where's the thread about BCBS?

yeah id imagine that the tallest building in the western hemisphere being built right
next to them will cause their property values to plummet.

but will definitely be noisy.

but hey i think alot of us here would be happy to live there and house sit during
the construction and have a front row seat.
infact they should throw parties there all during the construction,
thats what i would do,

...not to sound dumb here, but I'm not an expert on construction. I know what a slurry wall is, but what the heck is a secant? The only definition I know is that it is a trig function.

yes. but you'd have to admit that the party is over when the spire rises higher than their windows and they kiss their views good bye.
