Excellent progress, just like cheeps said, i didnt think it would go this fast. This development has really caught on fire quite quickly. Good to see.

Fantastic update Harry, appreciated as always. The hole is massive now. I wonder what it looks like from the bottom looking up...

Don't know if anyone's noticed this, but this guy has a flotation vest on, yes?

I guess it would be kinda nasty if you fell into that trench.

Harry, as always, stunning and much appreciated work with these pics.

And after three more rings, what will happen next?

Do they close the hole and start building the tower, while still excavating below?

is the hole for the whole building or is it just for the core?

If it's for the whole building that seems incredibly slender!

Manometer ? http://www.efunda.com/formulae/fluids/manometer.cfm

How they get the clay out - teamwork

Hard to make out but these are piles of rebar for 1 more whaler ring ( apparently any horizontal beam to shore up sheet piles is a whaler ).

Ramp from N bound LSD

I work nearby, 5-10 minutes by bicycle, I talk with the guards and let them know what I'm doing, after they see me around a few times I just become part of the neighborhood.

The rings and hole are "normal" bottom up construction.

The rest of the site, LSD to townhomes, slip to river (almost) is having the walls built now, the walls are twice as deep as the roadway is high. Some walls are slurry walls, some are secant. Instead of whalers to support the walls, floors will be used, starting with the ground level, once the ground level floor is holding the walls apart they dig under it ,....... ( go to diashow http://www.calice.igt.ethz.ch/Challe...H%2Dchallenge/ )
