Judging from the pictures, the ground is extremely muddy. I don't envy the workers.

Jan 11 - AM

View from above - A dark and cloudy morning

From the gate

Bigger ( larger dia. ) than the rock bit ?

Looks like secants for the entire N and W walls, Slurry for the entire E and S walls ( the white things are used in making the secant guide walls - stryorfoam )

Sorry for having asked the stupid question and thanks for answering. After re-reading page 178, I still haven't found this info there between the lines, maybe due to my lack of technical vocabulary. And before I must've mostly seen the approx. 80 pages where this hasn't been posted.

Compared with ICC and SWFC, where giant round holes contained the whole towers, it's a different construction method here.

Work on the ramp from N bound LSD

Curb-Wall

Green Mat, Blue sky

Slurry Wall
Working the next section

The traps used with the pouring pipe, allows them to take sections of pipe on or off.

Secant wall
Primaries continue ( the in-betweens will be drilled later ? )

This, by the way, is a terrific pic. Really different view of the site/location. You can see why they chose this angle for the sales center. When the tower begins to rise it'll be breathtaking.

That small one is River View I (98 m/27 floors/2000); in fact there are only about 20 Germany cities with taller highrises (but much more if you include churches and tv towers).
Btw. the other close neighbor of Chicago Spire has not been put on that model: North Pier Apartments from 1990 with remarkable 177m and 62 floors. But compared with the future tallest of America, that's nothing: you'd need about the Sears Tower(!), up to its observation deck, put on top of NPA to get the final height of the Spire.

Well yes, but primarily because the Burj Dubai thread has yet to catch up. Remember that this is the first thread for Chicago Spire and the 2nd (maybe 3rd) for Burj Dubai. Also the current BD thread was opened after the CS.
lol
nonetheless, to me, the Chicago Spire is my favourite supertall and tops the Burj Dubai, simply for its design and place in a city with such rich architecture, history and culture.

Now, On with the Beautiful Chicago Spire

Also, a big, great thankyou to Harryc for taking regular photographs of the construction site and surrounds for all us CS fans and readers. Much Appreciated.
