Did they slash the price for the top unit? There was no mention of that.

Jan 14 - Secant and Slurry walls

Moving on down the line

Used the sleeve-drill to break up this piece of the guide wall.

SW corner - secant meets slurry

Marshmellow between forms ( they will now build a form around these and pour a guide wall, the center of the metal forms will be left empty ).

Progress on the S Slurry wall

More to come.

From the NW corner

Core closeup

It appears that the secant wall has hit something - the drill rig is poking around to find out how big the underground obstruction is ( I think ).

Front gate

Ramp work in the morning ( from N bound LSD )

Very odd, but fascinating, to see how this building is being constructed. I'm sure I'm missing something, but how is such a small foundation going to support such a large building?

Insult? If architecture was about not doing things that offended the sensibilities of those that came before, then nothing would ever change. We would have a static style, without innovation, without individualism, without ego. And, oh, yeah, there's a lot of ego in every skyscraper.

Try reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fountainhead

From the Wikipedia article: "The Fountainhead examines the life of an individualistic young architect, Howard Roark, who chooses to struggle in obscurity rather than compromise his artistic and personal vision by pandering to the prevailing taste in building design."

As stated previously, this is only part of the foundation.

The current hole is only for the core of the tower. Around the core will be 14 caissons, two for each of the 7 "legs" of the base of the tower. People seem to get confused and think that the current hole is the entire base of the tower, but in reality the actual footprint will be just about as big as the plot of land will allow.

They say that "most units" will be priced from $750K to $15M, not all. In that video that was posted a few days ago the reporter still quoted $40M for the penthouse.

were you around for the "this looks like a *****" posts? I hear ya man, but no need to yell. (in a message board internet way!!!! ) there are many people who just dont follow this thread that often.

I'm guilty of it too. I used to go in the WTC thread and ask whats taking so long.
