First of all, what kind of great soil do you have at Chicago???? I can't realize seein how a big hole is being digged just metres away of the lake Michigan and no water is inside the hole???...
Were these questions answered somewhere in the thread? Sorry, but i'd really like to know myself. If not, then could someone be kind enough to have a crack at them?
Also does anyone know any information about the foundation of the buliding, such as dimensions, depth of foundation (hit bedrock?), current stage etc etc.
Thanks

Yes these questions were answered in detail over the last 3 months.

In short - good blue clay, and a layer of sand.
CASE has constructed a wall, 86' deep on the slip side ( nearest the water ) and they are quickly completing the rest of the perimeter wall.

An educated guess as to the foundation.

I remember back in the late 60's and early 70's...my grandfather wondering who would want to visit Chicago with all it's factories and bad neighborhoods. We lived near Marquette Park back then. I wish he would have lived to see his city...

Ryan, I took the liberty of correcting your image. There was a brightness mismatch halfway across.

What was that building in the photoshopped pic above that is next to the Chicago Spire and is the same color, but only has like 1 twist in the tower frame?

I'm going to have to trust the guy who took the picture, and probably saw the man make the snowball, and throw it.

This is just about the most interesting process out there. The hole of the core just looks so "clean".
