I think its interesting that a tower that is shorter and not even out of the ground yet has more interest then the Burj.

that's wrong, the interest on both projects is the same. look at the posts, burj has less than the CS.....but because the current thread of BD has been made later than the CS one

I love the Spire,I went to Chicago last summer and saw the groundwork in it's early phases. Hope to return in a few years to a nearly completed SUPERTALL.

Yeah the Burj is extremely popular even over here in the US given the distance,But the Spire is very competative, especially with the phase of it's construction of where it's at.

If you have Google SketchUp you can download a model of Chicago Spire from 3D Warehouse.

here is the link: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehou...da&prevstart=0

Feb 08 - Slurry Wall

Slurry along the S side ( by river ) Secant running N-S between the river and the slip - and ( surprise ) Slurry to make the jog out along the W side.

Rebar mats waiting their turn.

The slurry wall digger

Slurry meets Secant ( the I beam is in a Secant caisson, if you look close you can see that the straight slurry guide wall has a spot at the end for one more secant caisson.

Where the Secant meets Slurry on the SW corner

That render is awesome. Chicago's skyline at night is IMO perfect.

By the way, The Chicago Spire seems to complete an "empty place" between the Sears Towers and the John Hancock Center. Also, i can imagine a view from above, where the Spire close a Triangle of Skyscrapers, with the three towers mentioned as the vertex (that's the correct word?)

Cheers.
