WTF!!!

They should start taking some photos on site instead of wasting their time spray painting a tube (for no apparent reason!)

March 10 - AM 2

Basket on grinder bit - the hole in the center is where the compressed air is pumped, it circulates the slurry and causes the gravel to be deposited on top of the bit, held in by the circular basket.

More caisson tops or sleeves.

A caisson motor returns.

A belling bit - used for caissons that don't hit bedrock.

Rebar mats for slurry wall - waiting for a better time ?

First off, $900,000 would get you more than 550 sq ft. in this building. Secondly, compared to some other cities in the U.S. the price per sq ft is pretty cheap!

Seems to me this forum is occupied by a bunch of post-count junkies that's ready to misinterpret and post at every non-existent opportunity. Reading the whole thread would be possible had it not been for junkies like you posting irrelevant "OH FOR ****'S SAKE!!!!!" replies and taking up 200 pages!

To get back on topic, does anyone with any educated opinion or information have anything to add to this? Why was this plot selected instead of a larger plot? Building restrictions?

Wow, I just found out about this project. Is it still supposed to be 2000 feet tall? Won't that make it second tallest building in the world?

It will probably be the second tallest for a year or so (until Russia Tower is done) but it should fall out of the top 5 within 4 or 5 years of being completed (taking into account only projects that are likely to start imminently).

This will definately be Chicago's signature tower. It is so different from the boxy designs of the other supertalls in Chicago. Also it is much taller than them. It will modernize the skyline. I am really excited about this project.

There might not be a lot a big lots available in downtown. This might of been the biggest lot the could get in the area of downtown they were looking for. Maybe somebody here from Chicago would have a better idea on the lots available in downtown. I understand what you mean though, a lot of the supertalls being built around the world right now are bigger projects that include much more acreage.

Someone may have a better answer than me but I think the plot size is very sufficient for a building of this size. If you look at Burj Dubai when it had it's foundation it looked extremely small. Plus aren't residential towers usually much slimmer than office towers? They probably got a good price for this plot of land as well. It could have been used for a small row of townhouses or even a couple of warehouses. I bet the land is much cheaper than where Trump got his but since I'm no real estate expert I have no idea.

Honestly I don't like the building design but I have a good feeling this will turn out looking much better than the rendering in real life.
