So is the centre of the hole going to be offset from the centre of the building, or is the centre of the building and the centre of the underground section going to be the same?

Several of the outer piles were set last year and covered over, this marked up photo from harryc taken September 2007 shows where they are - numbers 1 & 7 are probably not set.

The center of the hole will be the center of the structure, the hole is a bit wider than the core will be. (this is an educated guess)

Is Otis providing the elevators for the Chicago Spire?

I continue to be impressed with how tidy the site usually looks. No extra crap lying around...pipes and equipment laid out in almost military fashion (note the green air compressors and the cassions). It looks like a project where they have thier stuff together...not the usual jumbled mess you see at most construction sites.

That's CASE - all their sites are tidy and organized, often to the point of lining up the bits by size. Note also that the workers are always happy and smiling, part of what makes them so photogenic.

I know this question has been asked 1000 times but when do we expect to see the core rise for this beauty? I am a little impatient for this building to rise!!! Sorry!!!

After Burj Dubai this is the project I always click onto next.

Thanks

I love the location they picked for this tower. It's probably been answered before but what was on this site before they started building?

I still think the tower looks funny but I think it's going to look beautiful.

Judging from the fact that an over 2000 ft Burj Dubai has less views and slightly more posts than the present hole in the ground that will become the Chicago Spire, we should see this beauty (as you put it) rise (no pun intended on this and not to be taken in an offensive manner) in about 3.5 million views or 3000 posts. It will have more posts than the Mile High Tower at 500 ft than the Mile High Tower will have at say....a mile high.

Please don't be impatient on this. It could be the end of you mentally. Each foot this building grows will result in 10 pages of posts. If this isn't bad go to that other web site, (site named in my signature) and see how many posts they have on the Chicago Spire. You'll think that cobwebs are forming on this one.

Patience young Spirewalker.

Sorry if I already posted this but if I did it was a while ago so I'll run the risk...

Amazing one-shot-timelapse video of the tower here (click the link at the top):
