B Vic needs to use his "connections" to get us some pics of the now empty hole.

They still need to drill & pour two the seven super-caissons don't they? I'd imagine they will complete those now that core caissons are complete.

When this thread has 16000 posts.

I hear you Westyguy. These guys are taking a while to clean out the Chicago sludge. By just after the New Year it may reach as high as the Lobby. If I'm wrong then it will still be 6 ft under.

If anybody trashes me other than forumers from Chicago, I may take it personally. If the moderators of this site go after me I'll take it as a compliment.

The workers have to pour all the caissons for a 2000ft building.
What do you guys expect? It's going to take a while, and it hasn't even been a year since they started.

Don't worry. I still have Dubai to look at for new projects as well.

btw, Do most people in Chicago know about the Spire? Are they going to be surprised to see a 2000ft monster in their skyline?

What if a few the folks in the town homes next to the spire where clueless? Now that would be hilarious and yet sad.

Maybe they just went on an extended vacation?
Then they come home to see the tallest skyscraper in the western hemisphere in their backyard.

If he was my neighbour I would be very suspicious about that "extended vacation".... I would rather think he/she was anywhere else for "health reasons",...
How long will it take to construct this beautiful monster?

At least 3 pairs have already been completed.

funny you ask this. my guess is that many Chicagoans will be surprised. but as soon as this starts to pop over ground (and especially over lake shore drive where everyone driving can see) it will be the talk of the town.

there have been a few newspaper articles, a few advertisements up here and there (I've only seen one), very little news coverage if any. for now I think its under the radar for the millions of people who dont live in the general downtown area.

I made commentary last summer that this project is so 'under the radar' regarding local Chicagolanders that in a couple of years they'll be driving into town on one of the main expressways and "WOW, where did THAT come from!?!?!?".

With those new longer big diameter caisson sleeves it looks like they'll be wasting no time getting the last of the seven super caissons dug and poured.
