He was complaining about the spire in another thread.

You're awfully upset about a skyscraper in a city that you don't even like. The glass is going to get dirty? You don't say. And tall buildings have shadows?! Wow!

If you don't like Chicago you don't have to live there or visit there! CS is a landmark building in a landmark city and it will further add to Chicago's greatness. Continuous negative comments in a thread do nothing but create animosity and show that you're really a troll.

if I or anyone buys highest apartment in Chicago spire, they can make long term money by turning their house into observation deck. With my own house somewhere else. (I'd charge money obviously) would many people visit or is it a bad idea?

I doubt this would be possible. The zoning for the site probably wouldn't allow it (neighbors were already concerned about traffic in the area just from adding the residents), the lobby and the elevators really aren't designed for that use (you'd need a dedicated elevator just for that), and I'm sure there will be a condo association that would frown upon all of the tourists coming into their building. It's a nice idea, and I'd sure pay to go up there, but I'd be surprised if it ever happens. Sadly, that will be a view reserved for a very select, very rich few. On a brighter note, it will be a beautiful building for everyone to look at.

yea i think that would actually be a really good idea, but with zoning laws, i'm not sure if that would be permitted. Great idea though.

Please figure out how to use your computer correctly so you don't double post everything! It doesn't accomplish anything other than raise your post count.

harryc (or anyone else who knows)-

What is the up-to-date status of the foundation work? How many of the 34 caissons (14 perimeter, 20 core) have been completed? And the bell caissons for the underground parking? Also the slurry and secant walls? Any info would be much appreciated.

Shoot, this thread has over 5,300 posts yet the Chicago spire is still in the foundation work phase? This is unusual. The Burj Dubai thread has over 8,200 posts and it's nearly topped out. When the Chicago spire nears completion, what will the post count be, 50,000+?
