And that's just the construction of the foundations, it's a big building so that took it's time. The actual construction of the building hasn't even started yet, that should start in July........hey........it's now July so it could start before you know it.

sorry im bringer of bad news
Dubais pentominium has now a 100m spire reaching 618m and will be officially worlds tallest apartments

i think pentomiuim looks better with the spire.
Chicagos SPIRE people will be pissed. they cant even add a 9m spire to beat pentomium?
at least SPIRE will be tallest building in America and tallest units outside of Dubai.

I love this tower and I don't like it less because Dubai wants to play the "mine is bigger than yours" game.

I don't have a lot of knowledge regarding construction so perhaps one of you can help me answer this question: The diameter of the building appears to be quite small judging by the photos of the hole. Will the building be wider than that hole?

Who cares about Dubai, in the end of the day this tower is the "Chicago Spire", that says more then enough.

OK, now that people know the info about the pentominium let's stop talking about it in this thread.

If the Chicago Spire and the Pentominium were placed side by side, you could stand on the Spire's roof and look down onto the roof of the Pentominium. So although the official height of the Pentominium is higher than the Spire's, the Spire's highest apartment is above the Pentominium's highest unit.

Right?

They're both really cool buildings in my book.

Thanks Stretch

That's the point I was trying to make and I'm not sure why my comment was deleted. I don't care much about which building is taller, I care more about the design, even though the Spire will still have the highest occupied floor.

ChicagoSpire is uniquely astonishing. Just look at the twisted facade that defines it artistically.

Lads, knock off the bullshit.
The reason I deleted posts earlier is not because of some mentions of the worlds tallest res thing, but because the posts are degrading into bullshit.
Please avoid arguments, city vs city crap, etc.
