I never say 100%, but 98% on this one.

The rebar has been formed into cages, the forms were stacked up next to the hole, the rebar cages dissapeared, the forms dissapeared, BVic reported pouring, and then the forms re-appeared at the edge of the hole. CASE is now pulling (has pulled) the last of their equipment and spare steel ( extra re-bar and beams from earlier ) out.

forms - Aug 29

If the center core rises one lever we'll never know

So is this a good amazed, or a bad amazed. I LOVE this building, which says a lot because I hate Burj Dubai, and buildings that are completely out of place. What I worry about this building is its isolation, am I getting this right that this tower only has 1 connecting road? It surrounded by water on two sides and a decked highway on the other? Are there any site plans floating around for the project, because i'd love to indulge.

Yes, it is not surrounded by towers, just water.

We will have to wait and see just how cool this will look on the skyline!

Isolated is a relative term, for some a walk of over 1/4 mile to the nearest bar, grocery store, and 24/7 pharmacy is very isolated, for others it is like being in the middle of a city. Fine dining may be 100s of feet further. It is probably close to a kilometer to Trump tower. a bit less to Michigan Ave.

I don't think flight paths and the height of buildings are a problem in Chicago ? These pics are a few years old but show arriving at O'Hare from the North East , having flown around over the lake from San Francisco and departing O'Hare South East of the Downtown area toward New York.

Are they digging a hole to China or will something actually rise out of this pit eventually? Man this is taking a long time.

There seems to be a surprisingly large proportion of people on this forum who have NO CLUE how the construction process works. It's baffling, especially on this forum.

I can't believe anyone thinks this, this is one of the fastest construction projects in the world, a year ago there was nothing, now the entire groundworks are complete. I've never seen a supertall progress this quickly. This will be finished before the London olympics let alone the chicago ones!

I love when ignorance manifests itself, it makes me feel almost intelligent. If you are not aware of the basics of building construction, please do not show it like this, it's embarrassing.

Btw, the location may be a little away from the greatest conglomerates in the skyline, but that's what makes also the lower apartments so valuable: no other building to block the view, and with a skyscraper like this, the view has a high price.

Be nice people. A lot of us just love skyscrapers but don't understand it from a technical standpoint. I wasn't smart enough to become an architect, but it doesn't mean I can't enjoy architecture itself.

This IS taking a long time, only because we have such high anticipation for this one.

WTF ALL I SEE IS A HOLE IN THE GROUND! SO SLOW!

I wonder where I've heard that a million times before. It just means the poster needs a punch in the face.
