[AFAIK] They will need to fashion the headers first - the long horizontal rebar heavy things on top of the secant wall above. This was also put in at OMPW befor the top down began there.

I suspect that Msradell is correct and that this is to promote drainage away from the core hole.

Actually, top down construction is not quite that simple. Actually they will excavate down far enough to put forms in to pour each floor, the only floor that will actually be poured directly on dirt is the very bottom one.

That hole looks like a mini version of The Cave of Swallows in Mexico: A nature-formed cave that goes vertical for 1100ft... deep and wide enough to fit a skyscraper in it: It's a fascinating cave!

By the way, is the whole spire finished already... when are the helicopters coming to screw it in? It will be spectacular!

Exactly what are they doing there? It looks like they are getting ready to pave it over and make a parking lot out of the site. Why would they so perfectly grade a site that is going to be dug back up soon (hopefully)?

There is a video somewhere showing how they are planning to build this, which includes laying a top level of concrete on the site and then digging out from underneath and adding the basement floors, this might be why they are levelling it, in prepapration for the surface level of concrete.

The hole will be -probably- underground parking. Do you know how many floors that parking should have ?

7 levels underground parking. Here is a sketch posted many moons ago by UberAlles

The hole is now all the way to the bottom, the core of the building ( elevator shafts ) will be in this part, the rest of the lot ( from slip to river, from townhomes to LSD ) will be the underground parking.

Well...Water and other buildings are all around...So...

I think it's perfect there where it is...
Imagine...You driving a car...Accidentally you turn your head to the left...And what you see? 600m monster proudly standing there...You can't even see the top because of low clouds...Or fog...Crazy...
