Now that's something nobody mentioned before.

Something is brewing!

It looks like the survey marks are the locations of the bell caissons.

Apparently they are digging trenches on Illinois Avenue.

Is that for the utility upgrade?

I think those orange marks are spots where tubes are buried...

Here are a few photos from the Chicago Spire "Owner's Day" to sign parts of the foundation rings. I have a video that I'll post a bit later.

Owner's were able to descend the stairs and write on the concrete rings.

Yes they have put out new stakes since last week, not sure they mark items, or a grid.

Sometimes I hate being colourblind. I spent like ten minutes staring at those pictures trying to make out any of the aforementioned orange markings, but to no avail.

"I actually do think some of the people living here will go to the Navy Pier because I believe most of the owners will be younger nouveau rich individuals not old money people."

I qualify as "young and nouveau rich" and I never, EVER go to Navy Pier. It's a tourist trap for people from Wisconsin. People who buy $4million 3 bedrooms don't got to Bubba Gump Shrimp for dinner. Again, The Spire is not a terrible location, but it's far from the top place to be in downtown.

I'm sure a little of everyone goes to Navy Pier. Besides, it's a family atmosphere so if there's a family in the Spire with kids then there's a good chance they'll end up at the Pier. Also, I highly doubt only people from Wisconsin visit Nay Pier. Anyway, this argument along with the location of the Spire argument are all one's opinion, there's no right or wrong answer. With that said, I think it's in a good location, not great.

lots of rust... this thing is d.o.a....

i blame the ugly LSD.. prospective owners couldn't get over the idea of having to cross 8 lanes of traffic to get to the lake.

Wayne, I'm assuming you were at the party and made the video. Was there any discussion about when additional work would start? As we've noted in the pictures they have recently done quite a bit of survey work which looks like it's in preparation for starting construction.

You don't have to cross 8 lanes of traffic to get to the lake. There is access under LSD to the area the other side of it which I'm assuming will become a park after construction is finished (construction materials have already been staged here and trucks drove under LSD). There are also pedestrian bridges (also usable by bicycles) over the river and the inlet to north. The LSD may not be beautiful but it will not be a barricade to access to the river or elsewhere.

They will be able to walk or bike under the drive.

I was at the party. But, unfortunately, they didn't give any details about timing on the next phase of construction.

I tried to enhance the markings. I'm not a Photoshop expert, so this is the best I could do.
