I wouldn't be surprised if they start moving on this thing again within the next 30-45 days.

I haven't visited this thread in a while and don't want to sift through pages and pages of info. Someone please update me on what the status of the construction is.

2008 Q1 series
2008 Q2 series
2008 Q3 & 4 series

These green pipes must be in the secondary caisson, to be tapped into later ?

Now there will be a only 1 bar within 2 blocks of the spire.

Inspired by nature.

The garage hasn't even been started. The large hole you see is for the core and there are large caissons from the bottom of it to bedrock, there are also seven sets of additional caissons around this hole that also go to bed rock to support the outer perimeter of the building. Most of the rest of the area that has been graded has bell caissons installed that will support the floors of the garage. In addition the exterior diaphragm walls for the garage area have also all been installed (part secant wall and part slurry wall) That's all the work that has been completed on the site.

When construction resumes the garage will be built "top down" with the actual building starting after the top floor of the garage is completed.

There was an ad today in the Chicago Tribune for the CS, and it said it has been "Under Construction since June 2007", implying that it still is under construction. Has it been made official by whatever company is doing the Chicago Spire that it is NOT under construction yet? Just wondering... I don't think the status should be pending, but then again, its only a name.

^ well the people promoting the Spire would probably be the last people to try and cast a shadow of doubt on the project

The project continues to be under construction...given the fact that work is still being performed on the under ground utilities.

On the contrary, is the financial crisis going to affect the speed of construction?

"Renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava has stopped working on the Chicago Spire, claiming the developer hasn't paird $11.34 million he is owed for his work on the planned 2,000-foot twisting tower.

The lien against Dublin, Ireland-based Shelborne Development Ltd., along with another by architecture firm Perkins & Will Inc. for $4.85 million, is the latest sign that the planned 150-story tower is struggling to get out of the ground"............
