I'm guessing it will be a hole for quite awhile unless something drastic happens.

It's not really in anyone's way or blocking a main road. There's no reason why a huge movement to do somthing about this will appear anytime soon. Short term I assume it will be forgotten and shelved.

The only people who will really be pissed personally are those who's condos open up to the site. At least they can take the fence down near their doors though...

This project is not happening. It will be used a marker for the top of the real estate bubble for economic history buffs, when an out of towner could come to Chicago and start a billion dollar condo project with virtually no pre-sales. Those were the good old days, unfortunately gone now. Relegate this one to the history books.
maybe it will be like the Xanadu project where another company will buy it and finish the project

Do people still think there is hope for it to be built? Because it probably will not be.

Well. I wouldn't feel safe leading a crusade in support of its construction. There have been projects canceled, or postponed all across the nation. In Houston, I know for sure that has happened. There might have been too much competition stealing away buyers who were hesitant about its height.

It looks doubtful, unfortunately.

It's too big and expensive for these times. Amazing concept, bad timing.
