People on this thread need to relax. Many projects around the globe have gone on hold. It's not dead!

If Kelleher had started this project just 1 year earlier, I think he would have pulled it off

Once construction resumes, what will the next thing to be done on the site? The parking garage? From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong) the foundation is essentially complete. When they continue, will we start to see rising progress? How long from when they resume will it be until we get above street level?

When they resume they will be doing three things:

1) Constructing the core

2) Excavating down to the seven super-columns

3) Erecting the top deck of the plaza and preparing for excavation of the garage

Personally I'm not a fan of this spire. I just don't see what it is about it that is so exciting aside from the height. As an architectural fan, I enjoy buildings, but aesthetically I just can't etch this one into my brain and enjoy it against the already proven skyline of Chicago.

I don't like that it'll take the title of Americas tallest from Sears tower (my favorite of all time..), but I can deal with that portion of my problem with it.

I'll definitely take pictures of it and enjoy the view of it, but I'm still not ever going to be a fan of a building I can't even get into to enjoy the view from.

If Chicago Spires ever get built, you might change your mind like it did to many people with buildings. Never know...

The freedom tower will take that title from the Sears Tower before the Spire gets a chance to. (But I do agree with you Sears Tower is also my favorite)

If they've actually signed Loan Agreements that commitment them to development financing, the developer can sue for a substantial amount if the bank walk away.
Having to nationalize a bank IS VERY BAD news bloke
