For how long will the structure resist the weather influences without any protection?
I mean, would it be possible to continue building it after e.g. 2 years without any repairing or even rebuilding ?

I would think everything would be fine to continue the project if it was left like it is for five years or more. Nothing that is exposed to the elements is actually part of the final building, the core will be built-in side of the famous "hole" everyone talks about the and all the cassions and membrane walls are all buried so they're not even exposed to the elements. The only reason rework might be required is if the design changes.

I am surprised that trailer still on that site. I seen many construction sites when projects are on hold or canceled, they usually take everything out of that sites. Any specific reason why that trailer still sitting on the Chicago Spire site?

My guess is they're trying to keep it so this can be restarted at a moments notice.

That hotel in N Korea was restarted and it sat for 15 years, didn't it? Although parts of it looked like a ruin, probably due to inferior concrete.

Could be the same for CS can't it?

I'm just wondering what CS would look like now if it wasn't on hold for a second.

This is probably the only project that is frozen and on hold at the same time. The ice status seems unchanged.
I’ll be impressed if the tower's construction revives in the spring.

No love on Treehugger.com:

Chicago has the world's first Santiago Calatrava designed seven storey deep hole in the ground.

Maybe in the next cycle the market will be interested in energy efficient, healthy, self-sufficient green buildings instead of glazed phalli.
