No, there are two in China that will be taller, one possible in South Korea, another possible in Dubai. Of course, construction on the Spire is currently ahead of all of those. But work may not resume for awhile, so it would probably end up being in the top 5. Still, the architecture of the Spire probably tops the other supertalls.

Any idea why they were cars parked on the ramp in the photos from June 10th.? They obviously have something to do with the site since they needed keys to get through the gate. Maybe they are working in the trailer?

What projects in China and South Korea that will be taller than Chicago Spire? I am not familar with that. I know that there are around 3 of over 2,000 feet towers are planned/under construction in Dubai.

Shanghai Center has started, with retaining wall for the excavation progressing well. It will be 632m tall.
In Shenzhen, Ping An International Finance Centre is due to start soon, and will top up at 646m.

As for South Korea, there a few super tall projects, but except for Busan Lotte Tower (shorter than 600m), I am not sure if any will get built.

Presumably, they could be cars belonging to the management.

Couldn't see where they were working (electric de-marc is nearby), there has been more gravel dumped near the W gate in the past few weeks. The site may be idle but it is not abandoned.

yes! at last somebody said that... Are we really need weekly updates of not progressing? I think it would be fully enaught to put some photos when it WILL be anything going on there, dont you think?

And its not like i dont undesteand that you spend your free time to deliver us that pics. But think for a while. Its more reasonable to take pics when it is something interesting to show. After all its not the plants board... And posting such an amount of data creates a hell of a lot of board bandwich use wicht imho is great waste since its nothing to show now..

And for all cs lovers. I really like that project. I really would love to see that unique method they was going to use there. Design is spectacular. The fact is that it was one of maybe five threads i was wieving daily when it was uc, but year ago it become a very iritating thread, and i thing not only for me.

ps. And please dont attack me. If you are enjoy of that empty site updates thats fine for me. Take what i said like only a suggestion what would be better.

Thanks you "harryc" - I'm Irish and from my perspective having a historical record of all action/inaction on the Chicago Spire site is hugely beneficial - as due to our banking debacle we, as a nation, are on the line for whatever happens with this project.

You are a hero of mine for the flow of images you produce!

I've referenced your work over on The Property Pin - http://www.thepropertypin.com.

Thanks again.

Simple solution: not open the thread, not read. You are not obliged.

All I can do to hold back from attacking you ..........................
Your post is totally uncalled for man. The 2 posts above mine are well worth reading.

Harry. I imagine I speak for many by saying Thank You for all your dedication. I have approx. 3500 pics of the CS so far of which the vast majority are from you. I hope this project will get going again (and I'm confident it will) but in the meantime your shots of "the hole" are as appreciated as your shots of the heavy construction.

Keep up the good work Harry !

I for one examine every set of new pictures for any sign of activity...and of late there has been some, however minor. And as for the accusation of wasting server space...that may have been a concern years ago...not anymore!!

yeah, i agree, I think this project will get rolling again as soon as a balance of materials cost and financing is available. Although I think it could be 3-5 years away, I haven't lost faith in this beauty

I agree, and i think a will do that. But then, i will not know when it will be progress on site until title will change to uc. But for now i will shut my mouth in that thread. I was holding what i've just said every time i've seen new updates, becouse i didn't believe i could change anything. But yesterday i was a bit tired, and that guy Sparxter provokes me to say what i have said... Well nevermind, i will stop writing anything in that thread until uc mark join the title of the thread, and what i hope wille be soon. And no offence Harryc. As i said that was just suggestion..

The "little landscaping" could be the need to control runoff. The city might have politely reminded them.
Anybody know if they're pumping the hole? It seems like there'd be a lot of seepage that close to the water.

Runoff is one issue that has to be controlled but I don't believe they are required to pump out the seepage. Pumping that out will be required when construction resumes but since the majority of the subterranean area was not disturbed I don't believe they have to pump the seepage.
