The steel walls are deteriorating, though...you can see that already. The bottom of the hole probably is getting pretty nasty, too.

If the Spire never gets built, wouldn't most of the foundation have to be ripped out to accommodate whatever new project might be built on the site? That would be a huge expense.

The steel you are referring to is just sheet piling, and will not remain in the completed building. The entire hole was made just to allow space to construct the core, it eventually will be removed anyway after the excavation is completed for the garage. All the other underground construction that has been completed (cassons, slurry wall, etc.) are completely buried to protect them so they are all just fine.

This is like watching Area 51. There are all these things going on at the site, but no one knows who is doing them or why.

The hole looks somewhat apocalyptic. Like humans left this planet in a hurry.

Cool shot! I am not familiar with this project between Chicago Spire and Aqua Tower. What is the name of this project? Height?

Wow, nice render! The view should be a little higher to capture the top of the Spire, but great effort. Although I doubt the Waldorf is going to get built, it would really pull that side of the river together.

And CrazyAboutCities, the height of the Waldrof Astoria is 1,265ft.

I'm looking back at this thread after a long time.

I think the design looks dated already. Anybody agree?
