Re point #2, that is actually (will be) DuSable Park. Also, development has been prohibited east of Lake Shore drive anyway.

For the Spire to be really awesome, it just needs to get cancelled forever.

1) The image is a bit misleading the Chicago River has some very diverse architectural styles and this will fit right in with that diversity. I would draw your attention to Bertrand Goldberg's Marina city (one the tallest residential buildings in the world) or the spire of Mather Tower (Briefly the tallest building in Chicago).

2) That plot of land is called Dusable park. It will probably forever be a park as Chicago has for the most part tried to stick to Daniel Burnham's 'Plan for Chicago' which among other things envisioned all of Chicago's lakefront as public park space.

I disagree, I think because there are so many boxes in the area it should be unique, especially if it's going to be that monstrous height.

Agreed. There have been massive boxy proposals in the past(7 South Dearborn)

The Spire is better then all of them.

It's absolute perfection:

If they ever build this, they should revive the design of the Chicago World Trade Center for a different project.

It's the tall one:

If they built that, Chicago would be even more perfect. It would also be the most impressive building in the world, in my opinion.

It doesn't even have to be Chicago, just please, someone build this!

Kind of glad it was canceled, didnt like how they changed the design. Original was better.

So everytime you don't like a project, it should be cancelled?

You realize that not everything in this world is about you?

Let it get built, I'm sure other people will appreciate.

Haha, and he was talking about the Chicago WTC not the Spire.

Who would want this beauty to be cancelled ?

Actually, no he wasnt. I don't think there was ever an 'original' Chicago WTC design.

I'm guessing the spireless one is the final design, in which case to me it is perfect for Chicago as a landmark, because it complements well the characteristic muscularity of the skyline.
