Hawaii Separating from the States?
Do you think it's a possibility that a referendum could be held and passed ny Hawaii to separate from the United States? We did after all FORCE the monarchy out of Hawaii. Maybe perhaps we should hold a referendum on it asking Hawaiians on the issue?
Do you think it'll work? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaiia...ignty_movement And this is supposed to be the new king: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bumpy_Kanahele |

I say let Hawaiians decide their own fate. I think it’s so hypocritical of Americans to be talking about freedom and justice the way we do when our history and current policy is so ****ed up! It would suck though to lose it and we all know D.C. would never let that happen anyway.

Given the vote, probably half of the states in the US would vote to separate, and then half of the municipalities would vote to be independent, and then each citizen would choose to control their own affairs and we could in essence have 300 million "little" countries. Absurd. Abe Lincoln would say "no way".

THIS IS NOT EVEN AN ISSUE IN HAWAII
I've lived here 20 years now and there is allways a segment of the Native Hawaiin community that wants it's own seperate form of government. The articale referenced in this post is not a big a deal as you may think. Because there are so many Native Hawaiian groups vying for control, they never form a concensous on anything major for the betterment of the Native Hawaiian people. Separating from the U.S. will NEVER happen.....

Can we force Texas to secede?? Hahaha. If you've ever been there you know it's a different country anyway...

Then what? Would they become a territory again? The history is shameful and what the United States government did to Hawaiians was terrible, but Hawaii is too integrated with the rest of the United States today because it is a part of the United States.

This will never happen. Puerto Rico would become a state before Hawaii, or any other state, will be allowed to leave the Union.

Also if I recall there have been a few elections over there to either become a state, stay a territory, or become independent and each time the vote has been to remain a territory. |
