Good call. And you're right. But maybe this isn't the real reason why the developer put this thing on hold. Maybe the interior is just taking forever. But I think nobody would like to see nothing but Elite Residence when they move into their room. But nothing could obstruct the southern or eastern view. And the western view isn't too bad either, if the floor you're in is high enough. You could see Princess Tower, The Torch, DAMAC Residence, Canyan Tower, The Alamas Tower and the other Palm Island (Jebel Ali, in case you hadn't guessed) on the west, 23 Marina and a lot of sand and gardens on the south, and Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, and Business Bay on the east. So the location isn't all bad, since it's tall enough. But if the tower was too short, then nobody would see anything apart from the building in front of it.

In 10-15 years, Dubai should just be renamed to Coruscant...

Seriously, especially the Marina is just like a small chunk of it...

Unbelievable.

Tokyo and New York are the most Coruscant like cities. Courascant is a city that covers an entire planet. Buildings as far as the eye can see. In all directions. The streets at the bottom of it's skyscraper canyons are dark. No sunlight. They built tall because they ran out of space.

Coruscant is not a dozen or so supertalls and a couple of mega-talls surounded by sea and golf courses.

I get what you are saying and of course I love NY's skyline, especially midtown, but the thing with Dubai is that the design of the scrapers is futuristic, they pop up at a crazy pace (marina is just 14 years old...) and their height is just ridiculous.

NY is still king and judging by the recent boom of supertalls it will remain as King, but I think it has (and deserves) that place both in terms of historical value (which is great) and diversity.

Dubai on the other hand is filled with futuristic designs, it doesnt seem to have old buildings or anything in the way, it really feels like a city designed after some sci fi film. You could take some skyline pics of Dubai and photshop a spaceship and everyone would fall for it (if they are not aware of Dubai somehow...).

And if it keeps that pace, then it will be the one to resemble Coruscant (at least from certain angles), even if it isnt the King of skyscrapers overall.

This! Is not the amount of Supertall/Skycrappers New York or Dubai have, is the style of the architechture! When I think of Coruscant I just can't picture anything but Dubai. I bet if the filmed the prequel trilogy right now, they'll choose Dubai as a stand in for Coruscant.
