Wow look at that person.... The construction is so massive, I really think that is way too thick, although it will be 400+ meters.

Maybe a way to hide poor construction(material) quality?

Surely it will be as massive and thick as it needs to be to support a 100+ storey tower.

Of course, I understand that. That's what I was saying ("..although it will be 400+ meters"). BUT when I compare it to other buildings in other parts of the world I wonder that it is maybe 'over-dimensioned' in Dubai.

So maybe somebody has an idea about this, or can explain why columns are 2 meters (!!) thick and horizontal beams which only need to support 1 floor are 1 meter (!!) thick (or at least it looks like that). I'm not an engineer but I'm not dumb either, and maybe someone can explain it to me... Do you get it?

Maybe it will get less thick when it progesses to the top. But at this floor it almost looks like the walls of the Monadnock Building in Chicago.

Thicker outer walls probably means less internal load bearing columns and more open floor internal spaces.

I hope so, because now it looks like the volume of the building consists of more concrete than open space, which gives me a feeling of big waste. So lets hope it will get less thick in the future, that sounds good to me.

looking at these floor plans, it seems to be a tube structure.

slim is cheaper n easier to fill !
Dont forget the population of Dubai is one of the smallest among the other cities who have super talls. In this case here....size does not matter!

Wow! Ocean Heights' core really grew a lot! I can't wait to see Torch and Princess eclipse their neighbors as well.

Thanks for posting the great pics Imre!
