A rare and nice aerial view of BBD Bagh - the government nerve centre [though huge sections of the govt depts have shifted to Salt Lake and even Camac Street has a new govt tower]. This is also the old CBD.
You can see the red Writers' Building in the northern corner.

The Howrah Station
Kolkata - Howrah are Amby Taxi land. Note the Blue Arrow Indica A/C taxis. I have heard that this company is becoming popular.  Interior

 ^Nice shots there Suncity ! Howrah Station interior looks amazingly clean in the picture. The Bule Arrow a/c taxis are very few in number right now. They are bound to become popular in a hot & humid place like Kolkata. Imagine alighting from an a/c chair car coach and then having to board one of those filthy yellow taxis - then you get stuck in traffic with the exhaust of the bus next to you pouring into your cab ! |

Beautiful Pics from Kolkata
Hi folks...am back after a long vacation in California.
Great to see some new members of the SSC-India forum  Here are some pictures of Kolkata that I collected from various places...ENJOY!: Starting off with the beautiful Victoria Memorial    Maybe we should send these lions to gaurd our borders with our jawans instead of them gaurding the gates of VM   Night shots    Maidan/Downtown/Chowringee Area  Kolkata's tallest building (maybe not any more - Hiland Park???) undergoing renovation. According to info posted by Suncity some time back, the building is going to get a blue/white facade.  Birla Planetarium    St. Paul's Chathedral   Cityscapes/Streetscapes Vidyasagar Setu  Park Street  Whats with the jay-walking, folks?!?  Sealdah Railway Station at night  Food Court at City Center Mall  Red Road - Shift every car to the left by a foot and traffic would be perfectly in its lanes!!!  The colorful Gariahat market  Fabindia Store - A nationwide chain of stores selling ethnic Indianwear  A streetside hawker  And finally, the Writer's Building, the seat of the West Bengal Govt
