Not bad at all - Ambrasas has created a really good design company.

When I see this last picture, i feel like coming back to ugly sixties building. Vilnius deserves more than those ugly blocks in the center. Vilnius is a beautiful city who would receive a punch in the eye next to its brand new Museum. BAD, really BAD and SAD

First time, after a lot of years, Vilnius has a positive natural population growth - There were 176 more babies born than there were deaths in first 6 months of this year.
Vilnius county however still has a negative natural population growth of -706, but that is almoust 60% less than last year. Last year Vilnius county had an overall growth of 200. That is ofcourse not that much, but atleast it's going into very much the right direction. |

From what perspective you are considering it awesome?
It creates mixed feelings in me. I like highrises so it is very rarely I would say highrise is ugly, but on the other hand copy-paste is something I do not admire because it is cheap. If one of the towers would stay as it is, but the rest would differ I wouldn't say a word, but now I am sure it there is vast space for improvement of visuals here. Am I right?

I think the building is pretty sleek, ascetic, and futuristic. Overall quite tasteful but of course only the time will tell how well it holds.

There are currently more proposed, approved and U/C residential, office and shopping buildings than Vilnius can actually handle in near future. Currently there are more shopping and office space U/C than ever in history of the city. Plus investors are scared that economical situation will get worse. So now we don't get many big new project proposals. The latest proposed biggest projects which I know of are two congress centers (one at the very city center which involves reconstruction of Sport palace) and water sport complex (no renderings yet).

Growth of the GDP should decrease for 2008 and 2009. 2009 will be the worst year. The stagnation will continue for ~2 years. Starting at 2010, 2011 at the latest, we will get back on track. |

However, there are a lot of projects being prepared for actual development as we speak. Most of them are really big and after their completion, face of Vilnius might change rather dramatically.

Preliminary population growth of Vilnius in first half of this year is 1277, if second half will be similar the growth in this year will be 2500+. The growth numbers start to look more serious.
Interesting that total growth consists not only of positive migration but also positive natural growth. I've noticed that Tallinn is also growing just at smaller speed while Riga keeps decreasing at an even bigger speed than before (quite weird, maybe Latvians can explain why?).
