does the ESPN building floorplate look small to you? i thought it was gonna be a total of nearly 150k sq ft on the top 3 floors and a 30k space on the bottom for ESPN Zone, that means the building should have at least floorplates that are around 40k sq ft but that building looks too small, are they still erecting the steel on the side facing NOkia or are they done completely with the skeleton?

I doubt it. No piles have been driven yet. Nor has a support for a crane been built. It'll be awhile for any sort of cranes arrive for the hotel.

probably the crane is there to dismantle the crane that built the ESPN building seeing that it is basically "topped out" and there is no other use for it?maybe I'm wrong. Btw I remember reading awhile back that the hotel was going to be constructed with those "kangaroo" cranes like the ones that built the WTC in the 60s. I seriously doubt that crane is for the hotel, but I could be wrong.

Well if they used the crane to dismantle a crane, then they would use another crane for the new one, which woukd be a chain reaction. And to dismantle a crane they don't use another tower crane.

The additional crane is most likely for Phase 2.

Ohh ok i didnt know if it was a mobile or tower crane. If it is a tower crane then probably it is for phase 2. cool

Haha! I feel the same way. Just seeing all the cranes is pretty exciting. And to think that LA Central is coming soon. More cranes! Wooohoo!!

This pic really gives a good perspective of how huge the ESPN building will be. When your walking down Figueroa it really looks massive!
