is there any way you can get pics in the future of some of the interior components, i.e the seats for the Club NOkia, the bowling ball machines for Lucky Strike, stuff like that. The more i see the Club Nokia building the more I like it and you have to admit the momentum for this project is building alot daily.

those alternate styles of glass are soo effective for this building, giving it a kind of 3d effect. That was the same style of glass they were gonna use on the ESPN building, unfortunately the current glass used is very lackluster and bland. Either way, I like the 1st picture and I hope someone either 1) demolishes or totally reconstructs adding 20 or 30 more floors to that Holiday Inn. 2) buys the plots adjacent to the HOliday & car wash. 3) Hurrys and builds LA Central ASAP. 4)adds another structure on the parking deck across from NOkia to enliven that stretch of 11th with ground floor retail with later conv. center expansion above.

I was going to say destroy the Holiday Inn and replace it with a Mandrian Orential hotel but that's going in The Grand. I think that a 40 story W Hotel and Residences next to Hotel Figueroa would be perfect for LA Live. Plus their designs are always awesome. Chic, clean, and modern. If Phoenix and Austin can get a W, then downtow Los Angeles should too.

even Dallas has a W u should see the hollywood-plastic wannabees that I got soo tired of seeing in LA. funny thing is their texan accent/swagger overpowers the visual output. Anyhow that whole block between 9th, 110 fwy, Olympic and Figueroa Streets would be an ideal transitional block full of high-energy development for its location north of LA Live, south of Metropolis, and west of Concerto. Maybe W could buy the Hotel Figueroa keeping/upgrading it to a uber-boutique hotel and build a 50+ story addition next to it.

Nothing is wrong with hotel fig. they just need to get rid of the car wash and add some ground level shops. apparently aeg has bought out the apartment complex next to it so we should expect to see something in its place. tie that in with possibly metropolis being built, convention ext, and maybe 755 fig and you got a totally new south park and thats not even including south fig or la central...

Gensler, the architects behind the massive LA Live project, are now exhibiting new renderings on their website for the 874-room, 54-story Ritz Carlton Residences & Hotel tower.
The artist’s renderings solidify the vision of AEG in its quest to make its corner of Downtown the entertainment destination of Los Angeles. This follows our recent post about LA Live’s steel frame already climbing above street level. A representative for Gensler explains, “The steel is going up a little faster than a floor a week. Each floor is 340 tons of steel. By the end of the year, all 54 stories (18,360 tons) should be up.” Seen from a distance, the staggered, multicolored glass pattern on the tower’s facade seems to echo the movement of the traffic on the 110 and 10 freeways — a less obvious take on LA’s iconic car-culture identity than the neon installation at the Caltrans Building, but visually stimulating nonetheless. Also notable is how the hotel’s ballroom facility will continue the theme westward in an elegant structure along Olympic Boulevard. ![]() From http://www.angelenic.com/ |

The steel will be complete approximately February/March of 2009. The first column was stood on January 23rd. We are going up at about 1 1/2 + floors a week. 58 levels of steel counting the basement levels. Still this is very fast and with the exterior skin and glass going up just behind the steel erection it will be exciting to watch. The theater and ballrooms steel start is mid April. Stay tuned.

I predict the start of glass installation by July. I'll let you know more when it comes available.
