Incorrect - the 'bmi' Jersey service was taken off last year. VLM or Air Southwest will be operating a service throughout the summer.

Jet2.com revolutionises the package holiday market by launching Jet2holidays.com
*Package prices as-they-happen, not old, fixed brochure rates *Three to five star hotel accommodation *Personal taxi transfer and on-demand rep *Flexible departure dates from regional airports *“The very cheapest of package prices to consumers” In a move which will have a profound impact on the travel industry, hugely successful low cost airline, Jet2.com, today announced it has launched a tour operator with a difference – Jet2holidays.com. The airline has joined forces with The On Holiday Group to offer real-time, dynamically packaged holidays to shake up the package holiday market and change it for the better. For the first time, holidays will be packaged from high-quality three, four and five-star hotel stock and paired with low cost flights – exclusively on Jet2.com services – meaning market rate, as-it-happens pricing, with no hidden extras. What’s more, rather than being constrained by weekly departure dates, customers can depart on the day of their choice rather than a fixed date that is often inconvenient for working families. Jet2holidays.com will offer hundreds of thousands of package holiday options to customers in and around its six UK airports* in the North of England, Northern Ireland and Scotland to the Spanish mainland, the Balearics and Canaries, as well as Portugal. To make the whole package complete, Jet2holidays.com is promising that all holidays will include personal taxi transfers in resort. In addition, on-demand holiday reps will ensure help is on hand when needed without the hassle of a rep following customers’ every move. Jet2holidays.com boss Philip Meeson said: “We’ll be bringing the value and service we currently offer our flight-only passengers to the package holiday market, ensuring a low cost, high quality, on-demand product. “Our lead-in fares will start at just £149 for a week in Majorca. Combine this with flexible, daily departures, on-demand reps and personal taxi transfer, it quite simply means we’re providing the whole holiday package for less. “We know from research that holidaymakers want both value for money, but they should also expect a quality product that’s not compromised by the low price. Ensuring we only provide quality three to five-star hotels, and personal touches like the taxi service will truly differentiate us from traditional tour operators. “The business model is based on a relatively straightforward principle of matching low cost airline flights with high quality hotel stock – but until new technology was developed, it had remained an untapped market. We plan to build on our unrivalled presence in the North, flying from the airports people want to fly from. “One of the reasons we can offer such incredible package deals is that we are truly streamlined – doing away with bulky brochures and other expensive overheads whilst trading online means we can offer the very cheapest of prices to consumers. “Why would a holidaymaker want to book a package break from a brochure which had its price set six months ago, when we can offer real-time, market-price rates? “Our message is this: book today and get today’s lowest price, not last year’s prescribed brochure price. This will offer great value to the public.” Although Jet2holidays.com will initially focus on the traditional beach package holiday market, other products such as ski will be added in the near future. In addition, plans are in place to eventually offer variable durations alongside new exciting destinations suited to the package holiday market. A multi-million pound advertising campaign will launch Jet2holidays.com to the public later this month, promising ‘The whole package for less’ – and with the backing of two industry-leading companies, it is set to make waves within the traditional travel sector. *Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, Blackpool, Belfast International and Edinburgh jet2 |

Sounds very reasonable. I was always avoiding packaged holidays but may try this concept - part because of the price, part because of feeling that you are in control and can select everything yourself.

Yes and the idea of a taxi rather that the usual hour long coach ride is quite appealing too.

I would imagine your looking at 45 minutes to an hour to get to Manchester airport even living next door to the M62. If business people honestly think they can get to Manchester airport quicker than to Leeds then they need their heads banging together. It takes me a maximum of 30 minutes in rush hour to reach the airport from the city centre. It would normally only take about 10 - 20 minutes. The time varies depending on the traffic. On several occasions on visits to Middleton Junction in Manchester, my return home which would often be in the rush hour would take about 45 minutes to an hour. That's living in Yeadon, so the time it would take from Middleton Junction to LBA would be the same. I think you will find business travellers tend to use Manchester because of the choice of flights from there or lack of option from Leeds rather than because they think it will take too long to get to Leeds Bradford. All said, a new rail & road link would be beneficial to the area although the actual journey times probably wouldn't be cut by anything more than about 5 minutes. |

Not bad considering that LBA is only the UK's 15th busiest airport. http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/n...oss_airport_UK |

Travelling business class usually allows use of a limo ( Baby Jag, Audi A6, BMW 7 series) transfer from your home to Manchester airport then limo transfer at the other end to your hotel. I used to use this for Emirates but this year I've flown twice with Etihad to Abu Dhabi which is cheaper and the business class is more like first class. I went to Spain last year for a week at Xmas and it felt a terrible come down having to get on a coach, never again unless someone else is paying.

i don't understand why they want such a large part of the runway to be made up of those arrows because planes can't land on those bits, it would make sense to extend the runway bit more, the parking area looks good though, where did you find this, or did you make it.

ooh Lille, suppose its good to link with our twin city, i thought that it was easy to get to though, don't Eurostar go to Lille from London, or do you have to change Paris.
