Frank Gehry's Design

I don't know if someone already posted the Frank Gehry's version but here it is.

Warning:

I am hoping this one will not create a 140 degrees Fahrenheit temperature like the one in Los Angeles

great stuff for abu dhabi and the uae, but to be honest u cant just "buy" culture readymade with foreign-based museums/galleries/institutions/universities. why not develop more stuff like the sheikh zayed maritime museum? not something holding a 'brand' western name.

zaha hadid's exaggerrated designs r starting to get tiresome

abu dhabi is doing the french some favors in xchange for the louvre: http://www.gulfnews.com/nation/Government/10121662.html

they already opened the sorbonne campus, didnt they?

Since we are focusing on architecture in the Gulf at the moment, here is a full set of images of Louvre Abu Dhabi by architect Jean Nouvel.

Launched earlier this year, the project is part of the proposed new cultural district on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi.

Shortly after the launch, it was announced that Nouvel’s building - originally named the Classical Arts Museum - would become the first overseas outpost of the Louvre museum in Paris, France.

Nouvel is also the architect of Dubai Opera in the neighbouring Emirate of Dubai, and a skyscraper in Doha, Qatar.

>> more info on this project in our original story click here

>> see the location of this and other landmark architectural projects in the Gulf states on our Google Map of the area.

Where is Cityscape located and how long is it on for?

I fly into Abu Dhabi next Wednesday and wouldn't mind having a look if it's still around.

Only a 3 day event so last day tomorrow (Thursday)

but they usually have mini exhibitions in the malls and hotel lobbies. the Saadiyat island model has been in the Emirates palace for a while

Cityscape AUH ends today. The Saadiyat Cultural District exhibit at the Emirates Palace Hotel is still running, though. You may want to check that one out.

Not half as crazy as some of what they're building in Dubai, though.
