I could be wronglah but i think the original site for the old market is closer to the bridge. The present pasar seni site was actually reclaimed land, it was a valley leading to the river back then.

![]() Horses racing at the old Selangor Turf Club grounds (now replaced by the famous Petronas Twin Towers) at Jalan Ampang. At the background you can see the old KL Hilton Hotel (now Crowne Plaza Mutiara Hotel) on the left, Holiday Inn On-The-Park Hotel (refurbished as Impiana KLCC Hotel) on the right and the partly hidden Equatorial Hotel (now already torn down) on the extreme right. Photo could be mid or late 1970s or in the 1980s ......... Last edited by taurus064; June 12th, 2012 at 02:35 PM. |

It's a shame they have to demolish those bungalows when the race course was torn down to make way for the construction of the Twin Towers .......

I think the Belgium Embassy is the only surviving one along that row.

Nowadays when you pass through that area especially along Jalan Pinang you could hardly recognize that area with all those apartment & hotel blocks and of course KLCC & The Twin Towers. That area has changed so much since that photo was taken ............

Interesting to note that the original preposed site for the twin towers was not too far from those bungalows.

Majestic Cinema Pudu and Cathay Cinema Bukit Bintang has already been demolished for a long time so there is no latest photos for these two. For Odeon Cinema all we can find are photos from the 1980s or 90s. As for Jalan Tun Perak, I can't find one decent one from the internet so it's up to other members of the forum to do so. For Medan Pasar photo, please refer to page 35. Bukit Bintang - here are 2 recent photos:

It may be good if KLCC organized something to commemorate its past - like a simple but permanent museum. I mean the area has been a money-spinner for more than a century.

At the time of the picture, the area was already quite well developed. KL was the capital of the FMS after all. |

![]() Aerial view of Jalan Melaka. At the foreground right is the old Bank Bumiputra building. Can anybody confirm what is the building under construction at the extreme right side of the photo? (Photo could be in the late 1970s or early 1980s) |
