If you couldn't live in Sydney anymore where would you live?
Sydney is so unique; however what if you had to leave the city?
Where else could possibly match Sydney? Where would you go and why? Which cities could you recommend. Just to set the standard, the city council maintains that Sydney's longest and closest sister city in the world is San Fransisco. The city council also maintains that our closest partners are Paris and Tokyo. What do you think and why? If you are an outsider and haven't been to Sydney, see below from street level and aerial, to give you an understanding. I don't live in Sydney and I wouldn't want to live in Sydney. But I love to visit and would live there if I couldn't live in Melbourne :-)

If I couldn't live in Sydney "anymore" I'd probably live in Townsville. I hear its a nice place.
FYI Austraarabian this is Skybar is for all of Australia, which means you probably shouln't start threads that are phrased under the assumption that the everyone who will read it lives in Sydney. Judging from some of the replies so far maybe a better question would have been "Would you even want to live in Sydney in the first place" ![]() For the record my answer would be yes!

If I couldn't live in Sydney, i'd probably live in Brisbane or Melbourne.
Or maybe somewhere in Germany or the Netherlands. Never really thought about it.

If I couldn't live in Brisbane I would definately prefer to live in Melbourne over Sydney. Beyond a few inner city and eastern suburbs Sydney doesn't have that much to offer. In terms of liveabilty and culture etc Melbourne easily has it over Sydney (and Brisbane). The only downside to Melbourne I can see from an outsiders point of view is that seems to be a bit clique and insular.

Perth then Melbourne come before Sydney. If not Perth or Melbourne then possibly Brisbane, if it wasn't for the humidity. After that overseas before Sydney. Sydney is great to visit but its like all the bad of a big city without the benefits.

I'm fine living here so I wouldn't want to leave to Sydney. I'd rather live in Europe or Canada or Brissy or perth before Sydney. |

Wrong answer 90% of people should have said SEQ. Id Rather Live here in this World Capital. ![]() Seriously if i was a Sydneysider id move to my minime, younger twin = PERTH! Vancouver or London, Perhaps id move to Finland.

If I move from Sydney, I would live in HK or Wellington. Any other Oz city would feel the same. that is with the inadequate transport options, incompetent governments (although i work for/in one!) and beautiful beaches... Nowhere in the USA, Europe (language barrier) interests me, maybe Vancouver, Jamaica or Toronto in the Americas.
