lol, no one calls it Vahdate Eslami amongst the people. It is referred to as "Meydoon Shapoor" by everyone in Tehran.

The biggest problem with Iranian people is that they don't know just how great their country can be.

I hope that's a good sign that the people haven't turned into islamistic fascists >.>

Yeah, i would agree.

The air quality seems pretty clean... i wonder if that's a sign that people are being able to afford better cars or just becoming less car-dependant.

tehran had experienced strong wind for the past week, and rain

secondly, people dont change cars overnight, tehrans weather in general has been absolutely horrible this year

thirdly, u might like these bridges, but its accepted by most that these are ugly, they ruin the gentle and natural appeal of a city, especially in urban areas, such thing close to the airport or suburb wont be an issue
ina tu shahr mizanan, engar mantaghe san'atiye
imagine champs elysees with one of these

they took out 2 lanes to put the bridge foundations and put 3 lanes on the bridge
in reality they added an extra lane for 100 metres, really worth building a bridge for it huh? does this solve traffic???? it does absolutely nothing, its just to steal money from the budget

have you noticed, most of these bridges are at intersections, because their excuse is that theres traffic at intersections
the reason for that , is that people are too careless and dumb (sorry) to follow traffic lights, so they eliminate the lights and build bridges,
its stupid and inefficient

they need to enforce driving laws so the people evetually adapt to them

such a potentially nice area destroyed ....

i think in the next 5 years no street in tehran wouldnt be ruined by these ugly bridges

Is this a new bridge? Or is it just renovation/re-paving?

Chitgar Lake to Reduce Air Pollution in Tehran

Tehran SAMA quoted Mayor Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as saying that the lake was supposed to be built in 30 months, but is now expected to be finished 8 months ahead of schedule.

He added that the project has progressed 57 percent. The lake was supposed to be filled this winter, but filling with water has been postponed until next spring.

The mayor noted that no big city is without traffic problems, but the situation can be improved by promoting public transportation. “If the government and Tehran Municipality could pay the costs of projects in 4 years, air pollution and traffic problems would be solved. Then we can introduce new restrictions for motor vehicles in order to enable people to use public transportation more easily,” he said.

a growing issue, many of tehran's old garden houses and "kuche bagh" s are being destroyed by greedy "developers" and being torn up for mostly ugly mid-rises, the municipality doesnt do anything

such things are needed in the south of the city, the land is flat, housing is needed and land is cheaper, no real threat also exists there, aswell, more people move there and the whole class difference-by region in the city decreases , but whos to listen

proper urban planning and city building in iran = 0

40 years ago , the north half of the city was a lush region of gardens and houses, now its the most dense area ...

photo report

baz in khunehas bad nistan, unam taze chon "lux" e , kheire saresh

, lets destroy tehran and everything the city stood for

lol...

The houses are okay, but the chopping down of the vegetation isn't!

They're expanding parks and green areas though, hopefully that'll compensate it.

u dont understand

parks wont compensate

these garden houses are layed out in a very specitic format which creates a very unique atmosphere all across north tehran
if u cut down 200 years worth of gardening , u cant compensate it with a public park used to fill up un-used space
they have to keep these gardens, build on top of the empty lands which instead they turn to parks

As I said, most people in Tehran are a**holes when it comes to this.
When I lived in Iran, my own landlord would pour naft into the tree soil to kill the tree. This way he could have permission to tear it down so he could eventually have more land to build on.
