Actually, Chris – basically all projects are on hold due to money shortages, Pelješac Bridge among them. The section to Vrgorac should be completed in 6 months and than god knows.

I would go via Rijeka! It is not a longer way and you don't need to buy the slovignette.
Besides the Rijeka bypass is almost ready, so you have only about 44 km (6 km in Croatia, 28 km in Slovenia and 10 km in Italy) without motorway. And no slovenian police ballbreakers.

Kako doznajemo, specijaliziranim bušilicama izrađuju se probne bušotine, da bi se precizno utvrdila dubina zabijanja čeličnih pilona te sastav tla.

Riječ je o takozvanom dubokom temeljenju uz očuvanje zaštite okoliša i podmorja. Osim optimizacije postupka postavljanja nosivih pilona, precizna mjerenja doprinijet će i novčanoj uštedi kod izgradnje mosta, u kojega će se, po riječima stručnjaka utrošiti više od 45 tisuća tona čelika ili dvadesetak kilometara čeličnih cijevi. Ove radove izvodi tvrtka „Croscao“ što je završna priprema za postavljanje tih čeličnih pilona, koji će se 70 metara ukopati u podmorje.

but you could also write something about the project since you are so into croatian motorways and peljesac bridge... don't be so negative in your posts.

as it is written in this article, currently there are serious tests of marine soil conducted which don't need bigger funds.

as for all of you who are interested in this project you can find some tecnical data here -> http://www.gradimo.hr/Most-Peljesac/hr-HR/13070.aspx... as you can see, the foundations of the bridge are very complex so this tests are necessary for later savings in their construction (because of the marine soil composition the foundations will go 70 m deep)
