Hi, i'm new here and is hard to read all the posts to find if it is an answer at my questions.
This summer i will go to Orebic in Plejesac peninsula. I will came from Romania so i will start highway in Belgrade and i want to go there only on the higways of Croatia even is with 300 km longer than Bosnian way beacause is easier to hold the wheel than all the villages and slow vehicles... So, is anyone able to tell me if at the toll bouts euro is accepted? Also i want to know that at the gas stations euro is accepted, and if it's not where could i change some euro immediately after the Serbian-Croatian border at a good rate.
Thanks

change to kuna in the bank in bucharest. if you are going to other contry, you have to have its currency. even if they do accept euros at toll booth. (a year ago the toll was more expensive in euros as in kunas).

The easiest way is to change to kunas in Romania, as Hofburg said.

But you can also pay toll in euros, or with AMERICAN EXPRESS, DINERS, MASTER CARD, MAESTRO, VISA
http://www.hac.hr/?task=ces

On gas stations you can also pay with credit cards, but I'm not sure if they accept euro.

you can pay tolls in €. it is slightly more expensive (maybe 1 or 2%) because of exchange rate and you get bill in HRK. of yourse, you can pay it with credit or debit cards.
if you don't buy kunas in Romania, you have ATM's at most of service areas (but it is better to pay tolls in € in case of emergency).
service areas along A3 are crappy (they are ok up to intersection with A5, but try to avoid them because service areas along A1 are perfect). also, at service areas along A3 you can find suspicious people, so you should be careful there. along A1 - not.
at gas stations i'm not sure if they would accept €. if not, i think you could allways change it in shop or bar (i allways succeeded it in foreign countries), and you can allways use cards.

have a nice trip and make some report

What kind of bad experiences did you have?
Once a poor looking guy came to me with a bucket of water and asked me if he could wash my windshield. He was obviously not an employee of the gas station. I said no thank you, and that was it. That was the only suspicious guy I saw, if you can call him like that. He was only trying to make some money.

That is true! They are really old and crappy. Is there any plan to renovate them?

nothing particular, just weird looking people trying to ask me for some minor favours or selling/buying euros, but i allways eliminate them in the beginning ignoring them or being rude if they are strenuous. i don't wanna deal with them because those minor favours may lead into serious things as being robbed (i was never close to that situation however).
also, i've heard (And read in newspapers) that at A3 may happen situation with broken tyre (Made in Spain (R) ) when somebody ask for help with broken tyre, while the other guy is robbing a helper's car. i have never seen it, just read about it. or things with golden necklace (Made in Croatia (R) ) when they act as you have found golden necklace at the ground in the same time and they try to sell their half to you

The good thing is, that the A9 begins in a less than a mile after the Pula Airport. So you arrive, rent a car and enjoy... (As in Las Vegas, Seattle, Anchorage, San Diego, Fort Lauderdale and so on...)

just a city avenue, although first intersection in the same level with traffic lights is 3,5 km far from Jankomir intersection. it doesn't have a status of a motorway. sign for motorway is places somewhere around bridge over Sava, so just before Jankomir intersection.

Oops, you forgot the pedestrian crossing on the avenue perhaps at a half distance between KingCross (Jankomir) exit and CityCentreOne exit. Perhaps that's the reason for reduced speed. (By the way, I'm embarrased how they can't (or won't) make a pedestrian bridge instead of that crossing! )
