It wood be better if the speed on the works on the A1, but as long as the quality of motorway will be on the same level, as the rest of the A1 is, i'm able to live the delay!

Croatia has one of the most modern motorway-network, with an excellent quality, in Europe. I'm proud of you!

Very nice pictures, congrats.

I noticed that only the exonyms appear in signs: Koper not Kopar, Trieste not Trst...

The exonyms are written in their original name (for that reason: Koper, Trieste, Budapest, Pecs...), but croatian cities in Istria are in croatian and italian because of the bilingualism of Istrian county

That's true, but also Koper is officially a bilingual city... should it show also Capodistria?

Are these signs standard on Croatian exit and interchanges? I have driven on A1 and A3 but I can´t remember such signs. (They remind me of Italian motorway signage, while the rest of the Croatian signage looks quite German).
These are tourist signs (because of that they're not in green, but brown and yellow), which are common on our motorways. They are positioned few hundred meters before the exit and show small towns and villages which are not indicated on main guideposts, but which are tourist destinations

Standard green signs are positioned like this:
-2000 m before the exit - exit sign
-1000 m before the exit - guidepost showing an exit with names of cities nearby
-500 m before the exit - green guidepost showing destinations on that motorway and below it the other, yellow sign with nearby cities

We write only the official name of the town in their language, because everything else would be too much confusing. Even now, with croatian and italian names, the sign may contain too much words and be confusing

No one knows exact plans.
The first plan was to build A1 till Dubrovnik, but now there is a plan to build A1 to BIH-border, and an expressway to Dubrovnik which would go across the Pelješac bridge and probably be a single-carriageway road

Up until 2012 only the A1 part to Ploče interchange will be finished. There are problems with the money and affairs in HAC (croatian motorway company) so Dubrovnik could get an motorway/expressway probably in 2020

Last year I have still seen some signs with "Kopar" on it.

Great pics! I noticed two errors.

"Savudrija/Salvore/" - what's the purpose of the second slash (/)?

"Brtonigla/Verteneglio":

Like here.

Btw, is this motorway built all the way to the border? I'm asking because we've already built a piece of expressway on the border, so the meeting point already exists.

@Palance - all the signs on motorways and main state roads (D-roads) are changed. If there's a KopAr sign, then it's on county road or some very old sign in some city (ex.in Pula there are few signs with Kopar on it, but it's about 20-30 years old)

They will correct those mistakes, that's not a problem. The same thing was when the Kanfanar-Pula section was opened - they put wrong sign on Kanfanar interchange indicating an exit, not an interchange (a "cloverleaf-interchange")

The motorway is finished up to Umag exit, and then you continue on the expressway (single-carriageway) to Plovanija (red line). We are waiting for you: the second carriageway of that road will be finished when you finish your H6 (Koper-Dragonja)

I was in Croatia last year and i thought that there is higway to Dubrovnik , but I was wrong :/ Road to Dubrovnik is not bad , views are amazing , especialy views of new highway viaducts under construction beetwen mountains (I think that it was A1 ) but driving takes a lot of time and sometimes is really dangerous (high in mountains)
But when I was driving back from Dubrovnik to Makarska I found another road and it was much better , near the coast , nice :P

H5 (not H6) is already built on the border (0.52 km). Do you see that expressway U/C in the upper right corner of your pic? It's already built (3 lanes currently, but it's part of future H5 and will be widened to 4 lanes). So you can already build 4-lane A9 all the way to the border, if you wish.

H5, of course. I was thinking about H6 (Koper-Portorož) so I wrote H6

Yes, I saw pictures from that section which is built. Slovenian and Croatian politicians (ministers of traffic) should have some meeting and make an agreement to finish the border crossing and sections of both motorways (as Croatia and Hungary few years ago agreed to finish A4 / M7 on Goričan border crossing).

In present situation we'll have traffic jams on section from Umag exit to Slovenian part of H5, because between our 4-lane and your 3-lane expressway there is a part of the old road with sharp curves and low speed limit
